Promote an inclusive environment in which all individuals feel welcome and a sense of belonging
Engage in open and honest academic discussions of issues related to diversity and inclusion
Conduct research on the lives of all people, and represent diversity in our research questions, participants, stimulus materials, and analyses
Help students at every level in the lab to achieve their academic and professional goals
Undergraduate RESEARCH ASSISTANTS
The Niedenthal Emotions Lab looks for enthusiastic and committed undergraduate research assistants. RAs must commit 10 hours a week, for a minimum of 2 semesters, and can earn credit for their work. We ask that you be available for our weekly lab meetings on Mondays at 1:00. Our RAs participate in a wide range of research-related tasks, including running participants, processing data, creating stimuli, reading articles, and generating research ideas. Self-driven RAs are welcome to propose independent research projects or take on a leadership role in an ongoing project. If our research aligns with your interests and you are considering a career in psychological research, please complete the online application and send an email to our lab manager, Karina Miller (kjmiller27@wisc.edu). We will contact you shortly to set up an interview. Please note that we tend to hire at the end of the preceding semester (ex. Fall 2024 start date is hired in May 2024); please complete your application according to this timeline.
GRADUATE STUDENTS
We will not be accepting new students for Fall 2024. As our research is intended to advance scientific understanding of the psychological and physiological experiences of people from all backgrounds, we welcome applicants with diverse life experiences. We especially encourage BIPOC candidates to apply. For more information, please see the Dept. of Psychology’s admission and requirements page.
